Wider Curriculum
There is a diverse and wide ranging programme of events and activities for students outside the academic curriculum. Below are a few of the activities which may be considered part of the wider curriculum:
- Student Council
- Field Trips
- Clubs
- Drama/Productions
- Outside Speakers
- Sports
- Community Service
- Model United Nations
- Debating Societies
- Sustainable Development
What is the Purpose of the Wider Curriculum?
The wider curriculum:
- supports and strengthens the academic curriculum
- broadens students' minds to events and activities beyond their normal experiences
- adds value to a student’s development beyond the academic curriculum
- offers students the possibility to experience subjects they are interested in but not necessarily to sit an examination
- teaches new skills
Here in the Secondary School we place great value on students participating in the wider curriculum as we believe it enhances their personal, social and emotional maturity as well as their development into responsible young global citizens.
