School Trips
The Purpose of Trips Outside School
At ICS we believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. Often the most memorable learning experiences help us to make sense of the world around us by making links between feelings and learning. These experiences stay with us into adulthood and affect our behaviour, lifestyle and work.
Field Trips
Field trips are built into programmes of study for a range of subjects and year groups and can be day trips or residential visits. They are usually designed to extend the understanding of class work and are sometimes tied into coursework. Residential trips are arranged both inside and outside Jordan. The destinations and nature of the trips vary from year to year. There is an annual ski trip to Switzerland which is offered to students in Years 7-13.
Costs
Field trips may incur costs to cover transport, admission fees, instruction or tuition fees and insurance where applicable. Where costs occur, parents will be informed of the total cost of the trip and a full breakdown of these costs can be made available to them on request.
Health and Safety
Teachers organising field trips follow a comprehensive Trips Policy which follows UK guidelines. Staffing ratios, health and safety, planning and organisation are carefully considered. Risk assessments are produced for every aspect of trips and activities.
