French
French as an additional language is the second most frequently taught language in the world after English. It is a language that is spoken on five continents. At ICS we use the National Curriculum Programme of study to offer French to students from Y1 to Y13.
KS 3
- Students have 3 hours French a week and the classes are divided into 2 (Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced) with the opportunities for differentiation through flexible use of activities, but with a common core of material for all students.
- We provide a firm foundation for students allowing them to build confidence and strategies in using French. The lessons are interesting and motivating, with a systematic and comprehensive approach to grammar progression, clear explanations and extensive practice. It also allows cultural awareness.
KS 4
- We offer a two-year course which prepares students for GCSE. The course provides a wealth of lively, interesting and motivating materials designed to produce successful students.
KS 5
- Students who opt for French at AS and A2 level are offered a two-year course. Students develop specific learning strategies and independent study. They do research and develop problem-solving skills.
