Reception
Topic in Term 3 : Farms
The children will investigate the exciting topic of Farms over the term. Talk, play and activities will revolve around the life and the work of a farmer, different kinds of farming around the world both in the past and the present. They will learn about animals on farms comparing those traditionally in the UK and Jordan and the variety of farm produce. Our role play areas will begin in the form of a barn and a milking shed, and over the term will extend outside to involve a range of different life stock, both traditional and local. We will also be making an Interactive White Board book together on the information we discover in our topic of Farms as we go along.
Timetable
Both Reception classes have the following timetable:
| Sunday | Library |
| Monday | ICT, PE and singing |
| Wednesday | Music |
| Thursday | Foundation Assembly and PE |
Prompt Arrival at School
As you are all aware we are preparing the children for transition to Year 1. We would therefore like to ask that parents try to ensure children arrive at school by 7.45am. The children all have morning routine tasks which are an important part of their day to promote independence and develop their organisational skills. Children who arrive after others are settled and organised often find it difficult or distressing to separate from a parent or carer and settle to their tasks.
Sun Safety
No hat : No sun! The sun is beginning to get warmer now and is creeping round into our playground. We will have shades put up again very soon, however it is important to get into good habits. We therefore ask that your child has a hat in school, with their name on, that we can keep here for them to use on sunny days. The school policy is that if the child has no hat they must play in the shade.

Outside Activities
It can still be chilly in the shade; please continue to send your child to school with a light jacket/sweatshirt so they have the option if they should need it.
PE
It is an important aspect of our curriculum that children can take care of their own personal needs. Changing clothes and shoes for PE enables them to achieve this, so please send their PE kit into school and they can change here.
They need a Summer PE kit now. Sandals and open shoes are really not suitable for PE so can they please have trainers in their kits from now on.
Lunch Boxes
Please continue to encourage a healthy snack for your child in school. A healthy snack is one which refuels the body and mind, with less sugars and fats making for a healthy and happy child.
Water Bottles
Now that the warmer weather has arrived it is especially important that all children have water bottles so they have access to water at any moment. We keep the bottles filled up during the day.
