Physical Education (PE)
Why is PE important at ICS?
At the ICS we believe that Physical Education should promote:
- Your child's belief in themselves as having something of value to contribute.
- A recognition of the value of others.
- Independence.
- Tolerance of others in all situations.
- Self-control.
- Equal opportunities in all areas of the PE curriculum for every child to reach their full potential, regardless of age, gender, race or ability.
PE Curriculum
Pupils learn a variety of activities in accordance with the programme of study including dance, games, gymnastics, athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities.
Swimming
Each of our Primary classes has a weekly swimming lesson held at the Dunes Club and taught by up to three of our coaches, depending on the size of the group. There is a Dunes Club life guard on duty all the time our children are in the pool. The children travel to Dunes on school buses, supervised by their teaching assistant and a sports coach. At the Dunes Club there are supervised changing areas near to the poolside.
