Greetings from the PSA!

I would like to introduce to you the new Executive Committee of the ICS Parent Staff Association which was elected at our AGM on 11 May 2010. At these elections, the following people have been chosen to fill a position in the PSA Executive Committee.

Adeeb Sabbagh

Chair


I am married to my lovely wife Tamara who is also an active member of the PSA. We have been blessed with one child - Tatiana - who is in Year 7. I earned my MBA at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles in 1987 and have been working all over the Middle East and Africa since then. I have worked with multinational organisations for 15 years which gave me the exposure of working in various countries including Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Tanzania and Jordan. Lorraine Karmi

My name is Lorraine Karmi and I am the vice-chair of the PSA. I have enjoyed working at the ICS for twelve years. I have been on the PSA for most of that period. I am married with four grown children all at university and I have lived in Amman for the past 29 years. I enjoy organising events such as the bonfire nights, quiz- and bingo nights, and of course the Food Fair for which I was the Master of Ceremony and co-host with Beat FM. I look forward to working with the new Executive Committee and I think that together we will create some great events for all ages. Your ideas are always welcome. Willemijn Astro

I arrived in Jordan last January with my family from Holland. My husband Oscar works for an American software company and is travelling a lot around the Middle East region. Our two sons, Geert and Steven, are in year 4 and year 1. Back home, I used to work in lots of different fields, from web designing to library work. I got involved in the PSA by going to an open PSA meeting out of curiosity and ending up being a member of the newly established charity committee. Sonja Meijers

Second Secretary


We arrived in Jordan in August 2007, after living in Singapore for 5 years and spending 15 years abroad. It is our first experience in the Middle East! We are enjoying our stay in Jordan very much and our children, Laura - Y8, Mark - Y7 and Lisa - nursery, are very happy at school. In the past years I have gathered experience in different fields of work; from real estate agent to webdesigner to running a small company. At the moment I am back to studying. At ICS I am a member of the Marketing Committee and recently joined the PSA Committeee. The goal for this PSA committee is to get the parents, staff and children together and organise more activities. We begin our first challenge this year with the “end of year BBQ” which will be held on the 24th of June! I hope you all will try to join this nice event. Yvette de Kreij

My name is Yvette de Kreij - Journee. I come from The Netherlands. My husband and I arrived, with our 2 children Thijs and Anique, in Amman in September 2009. Before moving to Amman we lived in Dubai for 5 1/2 years. I love travelling and enjoy all sorts of sport. Besides being a member of the EC PSA I am also the chair of the Charity Committee. I earned my bachelors degree in fashion merchandising from California State University at Long Beach in 1988. Adeeb and I got married in 1993 and since then I have dedicated myself to being a housewife and the proud mother of our daughter Tatiana. Marie Hoyez

I’ve been living in Jordan since 1993 with my husband, Pascal, and our 2 children, Isabelle (Year 10) and Louis (Year 7). I work full time in my own company but find it essential to be involved in the school where my children spend most of their time. Katrin Kimming

I am Katrin Kimming, mother of a son and a daughter at ICS. For the moment most of my time goes to helping my children settle down in Jordan. I am a teacher and I worked on the Board of a Teachers Organization for the past three years trying to improve teachers’ conditions and to implement our (teachers) professional ethic principles among other things. Kameel Saliba

I am Kameel Saliba, holding both Jordanian and British nationalities. I am married to my dear wife Hana and I am the father of three lovely kids. I have an MBA from the UK where I worked for five years before settling down in Jordan and running my own spare parts business in the automotive and industrial fields. I had the honor to serve on the SMC before being appointed as the school’s Administrator last November 2009.
