Year 5 Wadi Dana and Aqaba Trip
Last week Year 5 had a very successful trip to Wadi Dana and Aqaba. We traveled backwards in time
exploring the rooms and dungeons of ancient Kerak Castle and collecting fossils from an oyster bed
now exposed on the roadside on the way to Aqaba! Our first overnight was in Wadi Dana were we ate
marshmallows beside a campfire, explored the rocks and campsite and found a Hyena trap! Our visit
in Aqaba began with a presentation of the work of the Aqaba Marine Park and a tour of the facilities.
We swam, leapt into pools, learned how to snorkel, swam among the coral and fish and fell into bed
exhausted in the evening. It was an informative, active and fun packed week. Thank you to all the
teachers who accompanied the trip Ms Tyrer, Mrs McIlwaine, Mr Ayman, Miss Sarah and Miss Hill who
dived in to take the snorkeling sessions! This was the last event for some of our Year 5 children –
Luigi, Seth and Stephanie who left Jordan at the weekend and they took away some wonderful
memories!
