Primary Update: How do you know how well your child is doing at the ICS? A good partnership with parents is vital to our school’s success as a learning organisation. When parents and school work successfully together, the results have a positive impact on your child’s development and learning. This can be seen as two-way communication of information, knowledge and expertise. We ask our parents to ensure that your children attend school regularly and try their best when they are here.
Parents are welcome to volunteer to come into school to help out, but if this is not possible there are other ways to be part of the partnership: by taking an interest, supporting children with homework, talking about learning, reading at home, and attending school events.

In the Autumn and Spring term we will hold meetings for all parents to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher and we send out a short progress report before each of these meetings. End of year written reports are sent home to parents at the end of June. If your child leaves midway through the year, we will issue you with a leaver’s report which you can take with you to your new school. Below is a calendar of when you will receive information about your child.
Your child’s Home School Communication Book is an important way of sharing information about your child. Please check it daily and let us know about anything at home that may affect your child’s learning.

Nursery and Reception send home a weekly newsletter to let you know what your child has been learning that week and to let you know of any events happening the following week that you may wish to support.
The Parent Staff Association (PSA) is another way to help school and get to know other parents. This is a fund raising association with lots of social and community events run on behalf of school. Parents also make up our School Management Committee (SMC). If you have not already joined the society from which parents are elected to the SMC please see Hazel in the school office for an application form.
We hope that all parents will enjoy our working relationship and feel an important part of our school.

Complaints or Concerns
From time to time you may have a concern or a worry you wish to raise. We believe that it is better to deal with these questions or worries as soon as they arise. Please write a note in the Home School Communication book or make an appointment to speak to your child’s class teacher. Teachers are always willing to discuss such concerns with parents at a mutually convenient time, usually at the end of the teaching day.
If you feel that a particular incident has not been dealt with to your satisfaction, then the following procedures are recommended:
Discuss the matter with the Unit leader;
If you are still not satisfied, raise your concern with the head teacher;
The next step, if dissatisfied, is to contact the SMC.
We are confident however that most problems that arise can be easily solved at classroom level, if we know about it early enough.
If your problem or complaint involves another child, please do not approach the child or parent directly yourself, this usually makes matters worse.
Complaints should be dealt with through the school.
