Medical center
The medical center has a full-time experienced school nurse and a part-time doctor who is on call for two hours on three days a week (varying). The centre is equipped with first-aid equipment and has basic medicines.
Examination
Children are all examined by the doctor, they are:
- weighed
- measured
- their hair is checked
- their eyes are tested
If the children are not well during the day they will be sent to the nurse who will decide if they need to go home. For younger children, parents are always consulted before any medication is given.
Medical Records
Medical records are kept of all the children. The nurse will inform the teachers if a child has any medical problems and therefore requires any special care.
During flu epidemics, certain procedures are followed: parents are always informed of the situation and information is given out as to how best to minimise the spread of the infection.
Parents are always welcome to come and discuss any medical problems their child may have.
For new families, advice can be given as to where they might take their children for treatment and which doctor they need to see.
